Waiting Well: A Journey of Calling, Courage, and Surrender

In my twenties, I received a prophetic word from a visiting pastor at my local church. Slain in the Spirit, I held onto that word for decades - though it didn’t come to pass until Well was born. Yes, the word was about a ministry to empower women.

Between that moment and my fifties, God opened doors to serve underprivileged women. These encounters shaped the vision for Well. One vivid example: helping a young woman escape the grip of prostitution and return to her home country, where she could resume her education and train as a hairdresser. That act of restoration was a seed, one of many, that grew into the ministry we now steward.

In my career, most opportunities - stretch assignments, promotions, secondments - came after I voiced my interest. Sometimes I waited for divine confirmation; other times, I was impatient. Truthfully, I’ve faced more rejections than acceptances. But I held onto the belief: “You won’t know unless you ask.” Like a driver signaling before changing lanes, I had to make my intentions known. My leaders needed that nudge.

A theme emerges here: the discipline of waiting well.

When my ambition wasn’t Spirit-led, it drained me. I became obsessed, envious, distracted. But when I surrendered the opportunity to God, crafted a prayerful strategy, and trusted Him with the outcome, I found peace - even if the answer was “no.” In those moments of rejection, I could be vulnerable before God. And the strength that emerged from that surrender was unforgettable.

This same posture of waiting has shaped our annual Well conferences. Until now, we’ve hosted one major event each year. But recently, we’ve sensed a stirring - an invitation to gather in between. We waited. We prayed. He listened. He answered.

So, we’re thrilled to host an intimate gathering of 12 women on 19th September 2025.
